The following is a press release from Lincoln Trail Motosports:
Former Professional Racer Jace Owen Acquires Lincoln Trail Motosports; Plans Expansion with New Training Facility
Casey, IL – Jace Owen, former professional racer, has acquired Lincoln Trail Motosports, a premier motocross facility located in Casey, Illinois. Owen, who has deep roots in the racing community, aims to elevate the facility by continuing its tradition of hosting top-tier race events while introducing VIP Academy MX, an all new training facility.
Tim Jackson said, “Jean Ramsey started hosting motocross events at Lincoln Trail Motosports in 1974. I raced and started helping out in the late 80’s. In 2008, I mortgaged everything, purchased the track and went to work. My son Drew came on board a few years later after leaving the US Army and we were able build Lincoln Trail Motosports into what you see today. With a lot of blood sweat and tears, we worked our way towards the top of amateur racing. We were racers long before we were promoters and I look forward to passing the torch to another former racer. I am excited to see Jace, Drew and the team take Lincoln Trail Motosports to an even higher level in this sport we all love.”
“Talk about full circle” said Jace Owen. “In 2000, after racing flat track for a few years, I remember a family friend recommending that my dad should take me to Lincoln Trail in Casey. I raced my first motocross race there at the age of six, and clearly my life unexpectedly changed from that moment forward. Looking back 24 years later, I never could have dreamt what that ‘local’ race track did for me. I somehow was able to climb the amateur ladder and win over 20 national championships and two titles at Loretta Lynn’s. In 2014, I began my professional career, securing 10 top-10 Supercross finishes and the Arenacross championship in 2019. I traveled the world, made life-long best friends, and have memories with my family to hold onto forever. Racing dirt bikes was my entire life until last November, when I crashed during the Australian round of WSX. As difficult of a decision as it has been, that crash forced me to retire from the professional scene, which I guess I have never publicly stated until now. They say that everything happens for a reason, and I can confidently say that I believe that now as I transition into this next chapter of my life at Lincoln Trail. With my knowledge acquired over the last two and a half decades of riding and racing, I really feel that I have something special to share with the younger generation. While I don’t yet fully have the words to describe the feeling of moving back to Central Illinois and purchasing the track that I grew up racing at nearly every weekend of my childhood, I do know that I could not be more excited or blessed to continue writing the story for Lincoln Trail. It’s a special place and I am looking forward to the journey.”
The acquisition promises to bring exciting developments to the already popular destination for motocross enthusiasts. With Owen’s extensive experience in the industry, the new training facility is expected to attract riders from across the country, offering them unparalleled access to top-tier coaching and world-class training conditions. “As a result of this acquisition, I am also excited to announce that my parents’ dealerships, Owen Motorsports, and the Owen Motor Group as a whole, will have a stronger presence and involvement in the local racing community. I hope to bring them business and help their companies grow with my involvement across the country,” according to Jace.
Drew Jackson, who has been instrumental in the day-to-day operations of Lincoln Trail Motosports, will continue in his role as Director of Operations. “Drew has done an incredible job maintaining the quality and reputation of Lincoln Trail Motosports,” Owen added. “His expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we expand our offerings and continue to provide a premier experience for all our visitors.”
Lincoln Trail Motosports has been a staple in the Midwest motocross scene for over 50 years, known for its challenging tracks and hosting a variety of events, including the Thor Showdown Series, that draw riders of all ages and skill levels. Under Owen’s leadership, the facility is poised to become a premier destination not only for racing but also for rider development.
The rest of the 2024 season is business as usual and the new training facility is slated to open in early 2025, with more details to be announced in the coming months.
