Morning Report
Good morning race fans! Coming to you live from Ironman Raceway in Indiana as we are set for round 11—the finale—of the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. There are some new track changes for this weekend, including the all-new start straight (now a left-hand, 180-degree first-hand turn instead of the 90-degree right-hand first turn into the left-hand U-turn) and the new woods section before Godzilla. This new turn one will more than likely decrease the number of crashes before the holeshot stripe. And late Friday night, the roller after the finish line (the one Haiden Deegan, Max Anstie, Julien Beaumer, and more were using as a landing after sending the finish line jump and making the roller a "double") was knocked down.
We are expecting a high of about 89 degrees Fahrenheit with humidity around 66 percent and about 40 percent chance of rain today. Expect a warm, sunny day at Ironman Raceway.
Last weekend in Maryland, Levi Kitchen claimed his third overall win in the last four rounds, but it was Haiden Deegan’s day as he clinched the 2024 250 Class AMA Pro Motocross Championship one round early. Without the title on the line, we still expect to see both the #38 and the #47 machines up front. Tom Vialle is still searching for his first overall win of the season, maybe it comes today? One rider to watch in the 250 Class today will be Kawasaki debutant Drew Adams. Adams will be #593 on his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki KX250 as the Tennessee Native will be making his U.S. professional debut.
Another rider to watch in the 250 Class this weekend is none other than Ken Roczen. That’s right, the two-time 450 Pro Motocross Champion is returning to a 250F today. Can the #94 machine land on the podium in his return to the small-bore class?
RELATED: Ironman National Injury Report
In the premier class, Chase Sexton enters with a 28-point lead over Hunter Lawrence with a comfortable lead as he the Illinois native looks to collect his first AMA Pro Motocross title. Sexton has claimed five straight overall wins in a row but the previous two weeks him and Lawrence have traded moto wins so the point stayed even. Barring disaster, Sexton will be your 2024 450 Class AMA Pro Motocross Champion—possibly mathematically eliminating the #96 after the first moto. Lawrence and Aaron Plessinger are both fighting to earn their first overall wins of the season (and their 450 careers), so maybe if Sexton wraps up this championship the door is opened for either the #96 or the #7 to stand in the center of the podium at the end of the day. Watch for Eli Tomac to be better this weekend in his second race back from injury. Justin Cooper has done well here in the past and the usual great starter is looking to cap of his rookie 450 season with a strong—potential podium—ride. Plus, battling for points for the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) should provide some great racing.

First Motos
250 Class
After separate sight laps from the Scouting Moto Combine and WMX competitors, the 250 Class pros took their sight lap. It was time to go racing! The gates dropped and it was Tom Vialle getting the holeshot over Chance Hymas in the all-new, left-hand first turn. Jordon Smith got around Hymas and rode a great moto. Eventually, Levi Kitchen charged to take second away from Smith late in the race. Vialle ran away with the race win as Kitchen and Smith rounded out the podium. RJ Hampshire fought up to finish fourth in his third moto of this summer as Ty Masterpool came through fifth after a crash. Ken Roczen finished ninth after battling with multiple Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders in the top five early. Drew Adams came through 15th in his first AMA Motocross moto after running in the top ten for the first half of the moto. Joey Savatgy had and early mechanical issue that saw him ride off in a golf cart as his team took his bike back to the pits. Garrett Marchbanks had a crash that forced him to withdraw from the race late. Haiden Deegan crashed early and was 28th but came through the checkered flag 11th.

450 Class
The first 450 Class moto began, and it was Phil Nicoletti, Hunter Lawrence, and Aaron Plessinger out front as Vincent Luhovey and Dylan Ferrandis collided in the first turn. Plessinger made a pass on Lawrence to take over the lead as the #96 had pressure from Sexton. A few laps later, Sexton passed his KTM teammate to move into the lead as the top four (those three and Eli Tomac) had broken away from the field. Sexton took the race win and by doing so, mathematically eliminated Lawrence, giving the Illinois native the title at the end of the first moto. He will receive the #1 plate after the second moto.

Second Motos
250 Class
The gates dropped on the second moto, and it was Tom Vialle once again with the holeshot. He led early as Chance Hymas shuffled into second place again. Haiden Deegan swung wide from his outside gate and was inside the top five through the holeshot stripe, which was impressive. Vialle was leading as Deegan caught and battled Hymas. Deegan made a pass on Hymas then went after Vialle! The two banged bars in the turn right after the mechanics’ area, which saw Deegan come out on top momentarily for a few turns before Vialle jumped back into the race lead. Then the next lap, the two got together again in the same spot! Vialle continued to lead before Deegan was finally able to make a pass stick. As the front duo battled, Hymas joined the party and made it a three-way battle! Quickly, Hymas followed Deegan around Vialle to take over second. It was an exciting back and forth battle for a handful of laps! Unfortunately for P2 in the first moto, Levi Kitchen (sitting on two straight overall wins) crashed and had to withdraw from the race, scoring 35th with his DNF. The TV broadcast reported that Kitchen twisted his leg under his bike back in the new woods section. Bummer for Kitchen, who had a strong shot at his third straight overall win until that crash. Deegan ran away with the moto win as Hymas, RJ Hampshire, Vialle, and Ryder DiFrancesco rounded out the top five.

Chase Sexton again got out to the race lead and took off with the race win, stamping his championship with a 1-1 day. Aaron Plessinger rode home a second-place finish ahead of Eli Tomac, who charged to finish third in a strong ride. Justin Cooper and Jason Anderson rounded out the top five as Hunter Lawrence came through sixth. In his final full-time Pro Motocross moto, Phil Nicoletti brought home an eight-place finish. Sexton had been struggling in the first motos lately but he said he wanted to wrap up the championship ASAP today as he came in pretty nervous. Well, he got the job done and in 1-1 fashion. Plessinger (2-2) and Tomac (4-3) rounded out the overall podium in strong rides from both.
