  • Manluk, Rock River Yamaha, Merge Racing Announces Team Formation, Signing of Alex Martin

With the recent announcement that the JGRMX team has closed its doors, we began to wonder where its riders and team members would find work for 2021 and beyond.

Our Steve Matthes had initially reported that Alex Martin (who raced with JGRMX in 2019 and 2020) had signed with the Rock River Yamaha squad for next year.

Now, it’s official that Martin has joined the team—now Manluk/Rock River Yamaha/Merge Racing team after the three teams came together to form one. At this time, A-Mart is the only confirmed rider for 2021 Monster Energy AMA Supercross and the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Martin finished fifth (2019 250SX East Region) and sixth (2019 250 Class of Pro Motocross, 2020 250SX East Region, and 2020 250 Class of Pro Motocross) in his two years with the JGRMX team. Fredrik Noren and Joey Savatgy have yet to announce their plans for 2021.

Below is the full press release from the new Manluk/Rock River Yamaha/Merge Racing team.

Three powerful companies all pulling together, the team will contest the Monster Energy Supercross and Outdoor MX Nationals in 2021. The team has signed Alex Martin, Alex's drive and determination is second to none, the group will focus on providing him with everything possible to be successful.

Alex Martin

“I’m super excited to be working with my new team; Manluk/Rock River Yamaha/Merge Racing. I had some of the best years of my career with Yamaha. I’m looking forward to what the new team can do in 2021. Three great organizations and I’m grateful that we could organize this new team."
