Mentor, Ohio — Wiseco Performance Products, the worldwide leader in manufacturing high-performance forged and billet pistons for the powersports, snowmobile, personal watercraft, outboard marine, and automotive markets has renewed its partnership with the Amsoil Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) for the 2018 season.
Wiseco will be showcased as the Exclusive Piston of GNCC and serve as a feature sponsor of the famed 13-round national championship. Meanwhile, the Mentor, Ohio, organization will be highlighted as the title sponsor for the May 26-27 Wiseco John Penton GNCC at Sunday Creek Raceway in nearby Millfield, Ohio.
The Wiseco brand has become synonymous with GNCC, dating nearly as far back as the series’ inception. What was originally known as the Wiseco 100 Miler Series has evolved into GNCC—one of the most demanding and popular styles of off-road and endurance racing for motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs across the globe.
“In 1984, when Dave Coombs invited Wiseco to help sponsor the 100 mile off-road series, we were fired up to join,” said Dave Sulecki, Wiseco Powersports product manager. “Wiseco believes in true grassroots racing, and the GNCC series has been a great place for everyone to begin and grow their racing careers. And we are just as excited today to be a part of the world’s largest and fastest growing off-road racing series!”
GNCC will also feature “Wiseco’s Tech Tip of the Week” in the series’ Tuesday Toolbox email communication to riders and teams following the completion of each round. Wiseco will also sponsor the ATV XC1 Pro Class Holeshot Award with a $250 bonus and the motorcycle XC3 Pro-Am Class Holeshot Award with a $100 bonus.
"Wiseco has been an intricate part of GNCC competition since its inception over 40 years ago,” said Tim Cotter, GNCC event director. “In fact, Wiseco was the title sponsor of the 100 Miler Series that preceded what we know as GNCC today.”
The 2018 GNCC Racing season kicks off in Union, S.C., on February 24-25 at the 22nd Annual VP Racing Fuels Big Buck GNCC.
