Monster Energy Yamaha’s Jeremy Van Horbeek, currently fifth in MXGP points standings, sustained a broken and dislocated right index finger in a crash at the MXGP of Russia today.
Van Horebeek was injured following an “unavoidable collision” in the MXGP qualifying race, according to the team. The Belgian was taken to the medical center for X-rays, where it was confirmed he dislocated and broke his finger. Per the team, Van Horebeek was put in a plaster on site and will return home to Belgium to seek further treatment.
“I had a good day today, I finally got the parts for my bike that I had been testing a while back,” said Van Horebeek in a statement. “I felt good, I was solid in the top five all day. I had a good start but I went down at the start with a few guys. What can I say? I was fourth in the championship, so it’s a bummer, but these things happen. Gajser and Bobryshev have both been injured and now it’s me. I guess it’s life, we will look ahead from here.”
