Ken Roczen made his Honda HRC debut at the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas on Saturday, and for the most part it was a resounding success.
Roczen won the first main event easily, and was leading the second main event when he made a mistake in the rhythm section and went down hard. The crash cost Roczen a chance at the Monster Million (for winning all three main events) and ultimately the overall (worth $100,00).
After the race, Roczen told us he over jumped it a bit and that compression threw him off balance.
“I was leading, everything was great, but I made a mistake in the corner [before the rhythm lane] and slid out a little bit. I doubled and took a different line on the next triple because that’s where it threw me. The transitions weren’t very good today and the track was super notchy. So I gave her the berries and over jumped it a bit. That compression threw me off balance and the next transition was super steep and it bucked me forward and I had to jump off. That was the end of that.”
Roczen returned for the third main event and took home his second win of the night. He finished seventh overall.
