Eight-time world champion Tony Cairoli had the home crowd on their feet this morning as he darted to the early lead in the MXGP qualifying race.
Cairoli held the lead until three laps to go when he made a mistake and went down hard. Fortunately for Cairoli, and Team Italy, he held a big lead over third place Kevin Stijbos at the time and was able to rebound for second behind France’s Romain Febvre.
