Glen Helen Raceway will hold the 2017 Motocross of Nations as originally scheduled, Youtstream announced today.
Speculation grew that the Southern California venue may not host the event after the FIM and Youthstream released the 2017 provisional calendar in July with a TBA (To Be Determined) in place of Glen Helen.
“Since many years Glen Helen has been a devoted partner,” Giuseppe Luongo, President of Youthstream said. “And I am delighted to be able to continue this strong partnership, it’s a real pleasure working together with Bud Feldkamp and his staff. USA is an important country for Motocross and it’s fabulous to be returning to Glen Helen with the best Motocross event of the year, the American fans are fantastic and deserve to have this unique event in their country and to be able to support their powerful US Team.”
Glen Helen has never hosted a Motocross of Nations event.
“Myself and the entire Glen Helen staff are extremely excited to host the 2017 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations,” Bud Feldkamp, President of Glen Helen Raceway said. “The opportunity to welcome the world of motocross to our back yard in Southern California, for the first time in its 70 year history, is something that we do not take lightly at Glen Helen. Thank you to the FIM, AMA, and particularly Youthstream for giving us this honor. I look forward to doing everything in my power to make this a truly historic motocross event for all the teams and fans from around the world.”
Next year will mark the first time the United States has held the MXoN since Thunder Valley in Colorado hosted the race in 2010.
The event is scheduled to take place October 1 of next year.
