Youthstream has released the first provisional calendar for the 2017 FIM World Motocross Championship. For the fifth consecutive season, the series will open under the lights in Qatar on February 25.
The season will begin with four consecutive fly-away rounds, including a trip to Indonesia, which replaces Thailand on the schedule. Following the opener at Qatar, the series visits Indonesia (March 5), before heading to Argentina (March 19) and Mexico (March 26). The series finally lands on European soil on April 9 for Round 5 of the championship at a track to be determined in Italy.
Uddevalla in Sweden will host a round in 2017 after being off the schedule this year. The series will also travel to Baldasserona in San Marino on July 9.
The series finale has yet to be determined. Glen Helen will host the 2017 Motocross of Nations, which rules them out, as a track cannot hold a GP and the MXoN in the same year. The FIM and Youthstream typically release multiple schedules before all locations are locked in, so expect to see some changes and additions between now and next season.
