Despite Wrist Injury, Cooper Webb Says He's Racing Hangtown [Update]
According to a post on his Instagram page, Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Cooper Webb will race this weekend at the opening round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship despite breaking his navicular after the Santa Clara Supercross on April 2 during a testing session.
In spite of the injury, Webb raced the final round of the 2016 Monster Energy Supercross Championship in Las Vegas on May 7 clinching a second consecutive 250SX West Region Championship.
“5 more days until gate drop. Ready to see what I can do this summer,” Webb wrote on Instagram.
If his wrist can withstand 24 motos this summer, Webb, along with teammate and two-time 250MX Champion Jeremy Martin, enter the opener as the favorites in the class.
The situation is familiar for Webb, who entered the 2015 championship nursing an ankle injury. He finished third in the opening moto but reinjured his ankle and missed the next four rounds.
Webb won three motos in 2015 and finished on the podium an additional five times.

In a video released today by Thor, Webb talks about the injury and his decision to race this weekend.
