The FIM World Motocross Championship has landed on European soil for the first time in 2016, with qualifying for Round 3 of the championship taking place today at Valkenswaard in southern Netherlands.
In MXGP, Max Nagl took pole over Shaun Simpson and points leader Romain Febvre. Antonio Cairoli would finish fifth.
Valkenswaard is a home race for Red Bull KTM’s Jeffrey Herlings, who took an easy win today. Russian Aleksandr Tonkov would finish second with Herlings’ Red Bull KTM teammate Pauls Jonass taking third. Max Ansite crashed early in the race and would finish thirty-third. American Thomas Covington finished twentieth.
In the first EMX 250 race, American Darian Sanayei finished seventh. Conrad Mewse would take the win.
Race coverage takes place on Monday, starting at 3:45 a.m. EST on MXGP-TV.com with the second EMX 300 race. Delayed coverage will air on CBS Sports Network Thursday night.
