Two-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 250 champion Jeremy Martin will join Yamalube/Star Racing teammate Cooper Webb at Round 10 of the All-Japan Motocross Championship this weekend at Sportsland SUGO in Miyagi Prefecture (Japan), Yamaha announced today.
Martin will race the IA2 Class (250), while Webb will compete in the IA1 Class (450).
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be racing in SUGO this year after not being able to attend in 2014,” Martin said in the press release. “It’s a huge honor to be invited to this event, and I’m looking forward to a great result. I can’t wait to see excitement of all the Japanese fans.”
Webb raced the event last year and won both motos in the IA1 Class. “It’s an honor to be invited back,” he said. “I’m really excited to be returning to SUGO for the second year in a row. Last year was a great racing experience in front of the Japanese crowd, and I’m looking forward to defending my 450-class win from 2014.”
Martin is the latest high-profile rider to make the trip. Honda HRC announced last month that Trey Canard and MX2 World Champion Tim Gajser would be race the event in the IA1 Class.
MXGP World Champion Romain Febvre is also expected to race this weekend.
