Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey has been nominated for Best Male Action Sports Athlete for this year’s ESPYS, an award given out by ESPN. Dungey was nominated for his performance in the 2015 Monster Energy Supercross series. Dungey recorded eight wins in 2015, and was on the podium in 16 of 17 races en route to his second career 450 SX title.
Dungey faces some stiff competition. Tucker Hibbert, who most moto fans know for his appearances in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross events, won his eighth straight X Games SnoCross gold in 2015, the longest active streak in X Games.
Skateboarder Nyjah Huston is also on the ballot. Huston won X Games gold in Austin this June and was also the 2014 Street League champion.
Snowboarder Mark McMorris won X Games gold in both Slopestyle and Big Air in 2015. He was the only double gold medalist at X Games Aspen.
Freestyle motocross rider Josh Sheehan is the only other motorcyclist on the ballot. Sheehan landed the first-ever triple backflip earlier this year at Travis Pastrana’s house. He also won the 2014 X-Fighters series title.
