Chad Reed will undergo shoulder surgery and is expected to miss the remainder of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, he announced on Twitter yesterday. The announcement comes on the heels of a Transworld Motocross report that Discount Tire/TwoTwo Motorsports was closing its doors.
For his part, Reed has not given a statement regarding the future of TwoTwo Motorsports, which he started for the 2011 season, saying on Twitter, “Amazing that people have answers to things I don't at this time Stay classy Moto industry !”
Reed said the shoulder injury dates back to Santa Clara Supercross, when he crashed hard in the main event.
Getting surgery on my shoulder (for those asking)
It's the one I hurt in Santa Clara and why I missed NJ..
Quick turn around I'm told

We've heard the same rumors of the TwoTwo team shutting down, and none of the sources we have checked with have denied it. We haven't spoken with Chad, though, and out of respect for him and the other members of the team, we'll wait until we hear further confirmation on the future status of team TwoTwo Motorsports.
