GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder last Thursday, the team announced in a press release. Tomac is expected to have surgery on his right shoulder in two weeks. He is expected to fully recover from both surgeries later this fall. An exact date has not been announced.
Tomac, who won five straight motos to begin the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, suffered injuries to both shoulders in a violent crash at his hometown national in Lakewood, Colorado, on May 30. Doctors at Steadman Clinic in Vail performed the surgery on his left shoulder to repair damaged tendons. Surgery on his right shoulder is expected to be a less-complicated procedure.
Tomac will miss the remainder of the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. No timetable has been set on when he will return to racing.
