AURORA, Ill. -The acclaimed documentary series Monster Energy Supercross Behind the Dream will premiere the fifth of eight episodes this Sunday, March 15, at 10:30 a.m. ET / 7:30 a.m. PT on FOX Sports 1.
The unparalleled behind-the-scenes access with the sport's most popular and successful stars has helped Monster Energy Supercross Behind the Dream quickly achieve national notoriety. The first four episodes have been a unique showcase catering to the incredible depth of racing talent that inspired the championship's 2015 #WhosNext tagline. Rider-specific episodes have followed the likes of Ken Roczen, Davi Millsaps, and current championship leader Ryan Dungey.
The fifth episode of Behind the Dream will provide an in-depth look into the life of Team Honda HRC's Trey Canard, who currently sits in second place in the 450SX Class championship and is pursuing his first career championship. The Oklahoma native burst onto the professional scene by winning the Eastern Regional 250SX Class title in 2008 as a rookie, and since then has continued his rise to becoming one of the sport's elite competitors. While major injuries have unfortunately been something Canard has had to endure in his supercross career, he's always come back stronger than before and now is arguably faster than he's ever been since joining the 450SX Class in 2011. Through 10 races in 2015, Canard has a pair of wins and is firmly locked into second in the point standings with seven races remaining. Behind the Dream focuses on Canard's biggest source of strength off the track, his wife Hannah, and their relationship, discovering what drives him to fight through heartbreak and continue competing on a world-class level while he chases his championship dream.
"Filming for Behind the Dream was a great opportunity. The crew joined me at the supercross test track, then on a mountain bike ride with my teammate Cole [Seely]. They also spent time with my wife Hannah and me," said Canard. "This will be a great way for fans to get an inside look at my life, as well as see the team dynamic. Team Honda is in a really great place right now; our bike is good, our whole program is excelling, and everyone is meshing really well. I think that is what it takes to win a championship, and I want nothing more than to deliver that to a team that has stuck by me throughout my entire career."
Additionally, Episode 5 of Behind the Dream will put the spotlight on Canard's rookie Team Honda HRC teammate Cole Seely, who is enjoying a solid first year of full-time 450SX Class competition thanks in part to the dedication of his mechanic Rich Simmons, an MMI graduate, and their relationship. Viewers will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the converging of two of America's most beloved motorsports - NASCAR and Monster Energy Supercross - as many of stock car racing's biggest names were on hand to watch the action unfold at the second race in Atlanta's Georgia Dome on February 28.
