  • RCSX Announces Manufacturer Contingency

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The sixth annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross is set to give away $147,675 in amateur contingency awards to racers participating in this year's two-day event. Following Saturday's Daytona Supercross by Honda, amateur racing kicks off Sunday, March 8, and continues on Monday, March 9 at the historic Daytona International Speedway.

"It's incredible to see a 47 percent increase in contingency dollars from the 2014 Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross," said MX Sports director Tim Cotter. "We are honored to have all of the OEMs on board to support amateur athletes with such comprehensive contingency programs, as well as trackside support, for this event."

Once again manufacturers such as Suzuki, Kawasaki, KTM, Yamaha, Honda and Cobra are offering up generous contingency programs to amateur racers competing in the two-day RCSX event. Husqvarna will join the lineup in 2015, offering an unprecedented $40,475 in contingency dollars.

"As pioneers of the sport, Husqvarna Motorcycles recognizes that support for amateur racing is essential to the growth of the industry," said Jenna Parker, Marketing Communications Specialist at Husqvarna Motorcycles. "The RaceHusky.com program is designed to help future Husky champions rise in the ranks!"

In addition to their generous contingency programs, manufacturers such as Suzuki, KTM, Team Green Kawasaki, Cobra and Yamaha will have trackside support teams on site to lend a hand to racers on each respective brand.

"The Daytona event is one that our whole team looks forward to now," said Team Green Motocross Supervisor Ryan Holliday. "The atmosphere of the speedway, a challenging track and a lot of talented racers gives Daytona the recipe for a great race."

This event will kick off the opening round of the Women's Motocross (WMX) Championship, featuring a WMX class for riders who are pre-approved for a 2015 WMX license, in addition to Women Amateur (12+) 99-250cc and Girls (9-13) 79-85cc 2-Stk. For more information on the WMX schedule, licensing and rules please visit racewmx.com.

The RCSX class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class, over the course of two days. Unlike the Loretta Lynn Ranch format, riders do not need to qualify at other races in order to participate in the Daytona event.

The sixth annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship will take place Sunday, March 8 and Monday, March 9, 2015.
