Motocrossplanet.com is reporting that Jeffrey Herlings is riding today in an attempt to compete at the final MXGP round in Mexico this weekend, after breaking his femur in July. Motocrossplanet.com says that Herlings is expected to fly to Mexico this week.
The two-time MX2 World Champion suffered the injury while riding an 85cc at the Everts and Friends Charity Race in Belgium. Herlings sustained a clean fracture of the femur and was operated on by Dr. Drieessen at the Zol Hospital in Genk.
Herlings has missed the last three GPs (Czech Republic, Belgium and Brazil) and Red Bull KTM teammate Jordi Tixier has closed to within twenty-three points heading to the season finale in Mexico this weekend.
