Monster Energy/Pro Circuit’s Martin Davalos suffered a season ending injury while preparing for the final two rounds of supercross as the championship points leader. No rider is immune from their share of couch time, but it’s particularly cruel when it happens within sight of a title. Martin has battled back from his share of adversity and is already looking forward to that next challenge.
RCH’s Kenny Watson and his team certainly enjoyed the return of supercross to the New York metro area. Josh Hill backed up his impressive heat race win with their first podium in front of a massive rain-soaked crowd at MetLife stadium. We’ll catch up with the always candid team manger as they prepare for the final race in their home town of Sin City.
GEICO’s Matt Bisceglia has endured the mandatory initiation into supercross that almost assures a roller coaster ride for the freshmen moving up from the amateurs. He’s bounced back and put in a commendable season after stumbling at the first two rounds. He won’t have much time to reflect on the whirlwind season since a full and grueling outdoor schedule begins in a few short weeks.
Jimmy “Rippa” Decotis took his fans on one helluva ride last Saturday night. The Peabody, MA, native felt right at home in front of his legion of Northeast faithful and proceeded to start the night off with a dominating heat race win, followed the best Boston accent post-race interview … ever! Jimmy had us all believing it was his night after “Rippa’ing” the holeshot in the main and leading a few laps, but it wasn’t meant to be. It might have worked out for the best because I doubt the Peabody police were even aware of the potential celebratory riot that would have ensued.
