Irvine, Calif.– Kawasaki’s Team Green mourns the loss of one of its founders, and first team manager, Dave Jordan Sr. who passed away on Monday. Jordan will always be remembered as a driving force behind the rise of amateur motocross racing in America.
“Dave was always someone I looked up to,” said Reid Nordin, Senior Manager of Racing for Kawasaki. “He built our Team Green program from scratch and here we are 33 years later still following his original principles. Everyone at Kawasaki was saddened to hear of his passing and our thoughts are with his family. Dave’s legacy will live on with the success of every rider Team Green helps.”
After hearing the words “Team Green” at a Kawasaki Sales meeting back in 1980, Jordan was the first to volunteer and develop the Team Green program we know today. Jordan worked tirelessly to develop a 68-page proposal that saw only one page modified before the program was launched. Team Green was an instrumental facet for the creation and continued success of the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s.
Since 1981, Team Green has become the dominant force in amateur racing with many of the top supercross/motocross stars moving up through the program including the GOAT Ricky Carmichael; the King of Supercross Jeremy McGrath and the current three-time defending Monster Energy Supercross champion Ryan Villopoto. Though these are the most notable riders to come through Team Green, but Jordan’s vision ensured that anyone who raced a Kawasaki felt as if they were part of the Team Green family.
