The day program is under way here at the fourth round of Monster Energy Supercross in Northern California, and with warm temperatures and barely a cloud in the sky, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic day for racing. The track looks good too. The dirt is sticky, and if it doesn’t dry out we could see a track full of tricky ruts like we’ve seen in years past here in Oakland.
The obstacles themselves are also unique. There’s a split lane section, a big double with an extremely steep lip and a double dragon’s back lane, all things that don’t make appearances at every race. There’s only one whoop section, but it’s a long set a mistake and loss of momentum at the beginning of them will be costly.
Monster Energy Pro Circuit’s Darryn Durham is out after suffering a concussion last week in practice at A2, and GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac, who crashed hard in his heat race at A1, will miss tonight’s race as well. The word from the James Stewart camp is that he’s feeling much better (he’s at 97.7 percent, to be exact) after suffering from a sickness at Phoenix and A2.
