  • New Hinson Cushion Kits in Stock
Upland, California - Hinson Clutch Components is proud to release cushion kits for Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha models.

New applications - Kawasaki: KX450F 2006-2014, KX250 1992-2007 and the KLX450R 2008-2012. Suzuki: RM-Z450 2005-2014 and RMX450Z 2010-2011. Yamaha: YZ450F 2004-2014, WR450F 2003-2014 and the YFZ450 2009-2010.

Almost every Original Equipment (OE) Japanese motorcycle clutch basket has rubber cushions that dampen the primary gear from the basket, helping to protect the transmission and improve traction. Over time these cushions wear out due to the heat of the motor and normal wear and tear.

In the past if a customer's clutch basket had worn out cushions, they would need to purchase a stock clutch basket only to destroy it in the process of removing the stock OE cushions. This consisted of drilling out the rivets that retained the backing plate on the backside of the stock basket.

In order to check for bad cushions, you simply remove the clutch basket from the engine. With the clutch basket in one hand, grab the primary drive gear (large gear on the back of basket) with the opposite hand. In a twisting motion, rotate the basket and gear in opposing directions checking for free play between the primary drive gear and basket. If there is any type of free play, we highly recommend replacing the rubber cushions.

The rubber cushions can easily be replaced on a Hinson Billetproof® or Momentum Clutch Basket by heating the clutch basket to break down the Loctite and simply removing the Hinson backing plate and screws. They can then be reinstalled by the consumer or a local authorized dealer, with of course, a fresh bottle of RED LOCTITE 272 and new screws (both available separately).

Hinson Clutch Components sells the best clutch components available in the world for Off-Road Motorcycles, ATVs and Sport Bikes, offering everything from clutch baskets, inner hubs, pressure plates, slipper clutches, fiber and steel plates, clutch springs and extremely durable clutch covers. With these parts we have won 260 National and World Championships in our 21 years of business.
