Team Green Loretta Lynn's Report
Irvine, Calif. – Facing a variety of track conditions and weather at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch this past week, Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green accomplished five championships to conclude the 2013 AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s. Team Green’s Garrett Marchbanks won his second career championship in the 85 (9-11) class aboard his KX™85 winning four of his six motos and Keith Johnson took the championship in the Senior (40+) class after dominating the first two motos and recovering from last to second place in the final moto to clinch the title. Kawasaki riders Adam Nickerson and Michael Mitchell both stayed consistent to win the 250 C Limited and Vet B/C (30+) titles and Tim Ferry successfully returned to the Ranch to win his eighth championship by sweeping the Junior 25+ class.

Testing All Around Skills
Riders at Loretta Lynn’s this year needed a variety of skills to be able to hoist a No.1 plate after three motos. With rain on Wednesday and Saturday and high humidity and heat on Friday, the track was ever changing. Riders had to successfully conquer the rain and mud, the heat and hard packed, and everything in between. Those with the most preparation, conditioning, and skill stood atop the podium at weeks end and were awarded coveted Loretta Lynn’s National Championship swords.
“The track was so gnarly,” said Marchbanks after clinching his 85 (9-11) championship at the Ranch. “The rain made the dirt so soft that there were ruts just everywhere. After winning Ponca on the new KX85 I knew I had what it took to win and got some mud practice there as well. If it wasn’t for one bad moto I could have had both titles.”
