After spending his first four professional seasons with the SmarTop/MotoConcepts team, Vince Friese decided to go in another direction for 2013. He rode both classes in Monster Energy Supercross on a TUF/Slaton Racing deal, and then transitioned to Munn KTM for the start of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross. But just seven rounds into the series Friese and Munn have parted ways. Friese is back with MotoConcepts, but as of now, the deal is only for Washougal.
We spoke with Friese via text message earlier today and he said the deal was very "last minute" and that Mike Genova [SmarTop/MotoConcepts team owner] called him and offered to help him out for the weekend. He also said this is a "good opportunity" for him to make some money at the Portland International Race tonight and "ride a good bike for Washougal."
