Former MX2 World Champion, and 2007 Eastern Regional Lites Champion, Ben Townley has announced his retirement from professional racing today at the final round of the New Zealand Motocross Championship at his home track Taupo. The former Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki and Troy Lee Designs Honda rider has struggled with injuries throughout the years, hampering a promising career. Townley said the following on Twitter regarding the announcement:
“Hey, everyone, I’ve just announced today at Taupo that I’m retiring form racing. It’s been a hell of a ride and I’ve enjoyed it to the max!”
We wish Ben the best of luck as he heads into the next chapter of his life.
