  • Cobra Moto RCSX Recap

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., – What a weekend for Cobra Moto families down at Florida’s Daytona International Speedway as they got to kick off the popular “Bike Week” festivities in a big way, checking out the world’s top supercross racers at round ten of Monster Energy Supercross, then getting to race the same track the following two days on the infield of the hallowed motorsport grounds for the Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship.

Leading Cobra with a dominating performance in the premier 50cc Sr. class was New York’s Reed Cooper. The Cobra Moto National Team member, who was the runner-up last year at Loretta Lynn’s, won his main event qualifier, and then cruised to a victory in the class. Reed would be joined on the podium by a fast newcomer to the Cobra Moto program, at least on American soil, as Venezuela’s Jaquel Gonzales would place 3rd. Noteworthy is the fact that Jaquel’s father, Jaquel Sr., is Venezuela’s leading Cobra dealer and will be racing at this weekend’s Daytona AMA Superbike event.

With a strong presence in the pits at the Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship, Cobra Moto and President Sean Hilbert were very pleased with the how things turned out over the weekend.

“The Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship was more than an event … it was an experience,” said Hilbert. “And that’s key to the future of amateur MX. Having the pro race on Saturday so all the amateurs can be there to watch, then helping kick off Bike Week themselves by racing the same track as the pros and hanging out with Ricky Carmichael for two days … it was a really, really well done event.”

Up next for Cobra: The 37th annual One Industries GNC International Grand National Motocross Final, presented by FMF, at Texas’ Oak Hill Raceway, March 13-17.
