Carlsbad, Calif. — Round five of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, returned to Angel Stadium Saturday night for the last time this season, and Team Rockwell/FirePoliceMX rider Killy Rusk looked to improve on his 250SX West campaign.
Rusk started the day off with a fast lap in first timed B practice, garnering a top-three time in his respective session. However, frustrations continued in second practice with downed riders.
“I need to get out of B practice,” Rusk tweeted Saturday afternoon. “With people down in front of me every lap, I couldn’t set a fast time. It’s frustrating.”
Rusk would qualify 27th overall in practice with the 14th gate pick heading into his heat race. Unable to get his (#66) Honda into the main through the heat, he would try again in a stacked LCQ. To no avail, Rusk would miss the main along with other top riders Tyla Rattray, Malcolm Stewart and Dillian Epstein, with Zach Osbourne and Christian Craig securing the final transfer positions.
It was a big night for our eBay auction to benefit children at Loma Linda Medical Center. With the help of Matt Moto, we secured Ryan Dungey’s winning jersey and pants, as well as 450 runner-up Davi Millsaps’ jersey. We also added to the collection number plates from Justin Brayton, Josh Grant and Zach Osbourne. All items have been signed. Auction proceeds go to fill toy wish lists at the annual Big Air Kid’s Fair.
