This is it … the biggest race of the year for kids on Cobras!
Brown, Rogers, Cooper, Di Francesco, Linville, Reynolds, Taylor, Bruce & Yentzer lead Cobra Moto into battle this week @ Loretta’s Ranch in Tennessee

  • Note: Cobra will reveal its 2013 line of bikes at Loretta’s @ 7:30 p.m. tonight!

HILLSDALE, Mich., – The best of the best young Cobra Moto racers converge on middle Tennessee this week for the annual running of the Red Bull Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by AMSOIL. Famed country singer Loretta Lynn graciously opens up the gates to her ranch for a week-long celebration of dirt bikes and competition affectionately dubbed “Loretta’s.”

This is the time for Cobra kids to shine. They come from quite literally every corner of the United States, with some from as far away as Europe. And they all have one dream in mind – to be crowned a Loretta’s champion.

“This is it … the biggest race of the year for kids on Cobras,” said Cobra President Sean Hilbert. “Everyone at Cobra and every kid that races a Cobra has Loretta’s circled on the calendar. This is where the countless hours of engineering the American-made Cobras is put to the test. This is where futures begin for the MX stars of tomorrow.”

All totaled Cobra will have some 75 kids on its race roster for Loretta’s, ranging from the little guys (4-6) in the AMA 1 Junior class up to our 65cc kids. Here’s the breakdown of Cobra’s 2012 classes competing @ Loretta Lynn’s Amateur MX Nationals:

51cc (4-6) AMA 1 Stock Junior class … aka “The little guys”

2011 class champ: Ryder Di Francesco (Cobra)

Di Francesco (California) became the first five-year old in the storied history of the event to win the 51cc (4-6) AMA 1 Stock Junior class. He gave up the first moto to his central Cal riding buddy, Jett Reynolds, then went on to win the next two motos. New York’s Reed Cooper got progressively better as the week went on, going 5th/4th/2nd and placing on the Stock Junior class podium in 3rd behind Jett and Di Francesco.

2012: The odds-on favorite to win the AMA 1 Stock class is for sure Di Francesco. Other Cobra racers that’d like to prove that wrong include: Nevada’s Lux Turner & Nathan Von Miller, Colorado’s Wryder Huffman, Indiana’s Gregory Stewart, Maryland’s Noah Geyer and Mason Naecker and Utah’s Jace Allred.

51cc (7-8) AMA 2 Stock Senior class … “The King Cobras”

2011 class champ: Stilez Robertson (Cobra)

Racing his final Loretta’s on a Cobra, Robertson set a 50cc class wins record that’s going to be tough to beat. Recording his 26th win, Robertson broke the record previously held by former Cobra racer Adam Cianciarulo. Robertson went 1st/1st/1st to win out in the 51cc (7-8) AMA 2 Stock Senior class to become the winningest AMA amateur racer ever on 50cc bikes.

2012: Cobra’s got the Senior class covered again at Loretta’s. Moving up from the AMA 2 class podium are Reynolds and Cooper. And they’ll be joined by the class favorite, Georgia’s Gage Linville. Other Cobra guys to keep an in the AMA 2 class include: California’s Brock Bennett and Hunter Yoder, Michigan’s Jaiden Taylor, Colorado’s Wade Huffman, Pennsylvania’s Callin Kauffman and Missouri’s Brock Lassiter.

65cc (7-9) Stock, (10-11) Stock & (7-11) Modified … “The 65s”

2011 top Cobra: Pierce Brown, 6th, 7-9 Stock

2012: Brown enters Loretta’s with a great deal of momentum, having won the Ponca City Amateur MX Championships’ 7-8 65cc Stock and Mod classes this past weekend in Oklahoma. In 2011 at Loretta’s Brown - on the American-made CX65 – raced to a 6th place finish, which was the second-best finish in the class for an eight-year old. Joining Brown in the hunt for a podium spot in the 7-9 65cc classes at Loretta’s include Taylor, Wyoming’s Brayden Bruce, Florida’s Daniel McCoullen, New York’s Hunter Layton and Pennsylvania’s Chase Yentzer. And in the 10-11 65cc classes keep an eye on Cobra’s Tommy Rios (Florida), Georgia’s Jeremy Seabolt and Maryland’s Jack Rogers.

And finally on the 65s, Brown will move up to race all the big kids – including Rios, Seabolt and Rogers – for the 7-11 65cc Mod class title.
