AMA Motocross
The 2012 AMA National Motocross Championship continues on Saturday in Wortham, Texas for the Miller Electric Freestone National, presented by Yamaha. With temperatures expected in the high 90’s, this challenging track will reward only the most fit riders.
WMX
Bel-Ray backed Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki’s Jessica Patterson's quest for a 7th WMX Class championship started well, as her consistent 2-2 moto scores at the opening round in California gave her the overall and current points lead. Round 2 will continue this weekend and she is prepared for the extreme conditions. Often regarded as one of the strongest riders on the circuit, Patterson will look to her skills and experience when going for the victory on Saturday. Bel-Ray backed Fist City MX racer, Heather Lockwood raced to a 28th place finish last weekend and is looking to improve this weekend. She will be competing at most of the WMX rounds this season aboard her Kawasaki KXF250.
250 Class
Bel-Ray backed Team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki comes to Freestone MX looking to improve on their first round results. The 4 rider team of Jason Anderson, Martin Davalos, Blake Wharton and Hunter Hewitt have all regrouped and put in hard training this week in preparation of Saturday’s expected weather conditions. As the home race for Bobby Hewitt, Blake Wharton and Hunter Hewitt, their hometown pride will be in full effect as they work to put on their best finish for their friends and family in attendance.
World Superbike
The 2012 World Superbike Championship series come to the United States for their only stop this season. Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah will host the race on Memorial Day Monday. Althea Racing team riders Carlos Checa and Davide Giugliano come to the American track with different view point. Checa has been very successful here in the past, with 2 double wins and a second place finish in his last 4 visits, while this will mark Giugliano’s first appearance at the American track. Checa spoke about his love for the circuit as well as his disappointing Donington finish. “I have always enjoyed the atmosphere at Miller, the people, the mountains, the layout of the track itself. The track suits my riding style and I have many great memories thanks to the results I’ve obtained there these last years. At Donington, we lost ground in the classification and so definitely need a strong weekend now.” Giugliano also spoke about his disappointing Donington finish and his hopes for the race on Sunday. “Miller Motorsports Park will be a totally new track for me. I can’t wait to see it, as I’ve heard a lot of good things and know that Carlos loves racing there. I was disappointed with the Donington results, of course, and want to make up for things at Salt Lake. I’ll be giving it my all, to take as many points as possible and improve my championship position.”
World Supermoto
The 2012 World Supermoto Championship series continues this weekend in Palermo, Italy for the Grand Prix of Sicily Supermoto. Bel-Ray backed TM Factory racer Thomas Chareyre was the winner of the first round more than a month ago in Ottobiano, Italy by virtue of his 1-2-2 race finishes. His quest to regain the world title that he held in 2010 has started well, as he is the current points leader coming into this weekend. The track in Palermo is situated in an area of the old airport at Boccadifalco and is situated for maximum competition and spectator visibility.
