Chisholm Ready for Monster Energy Cup
AURORA, Ill.– Feld Motor Sports® announced today that Jeff Ward Racing’s Kyle Chisholm, of Valrico, Fla., will race in the second annual Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on October 20.
Chisholm turned pro in 2004 and finished sixth overall at last year’s inaugural Monster Energy Cup. In the three Main Events at last year’s race, Chisholm finished 9-9-7, respectively.
“I was happy with my performance last year, and coming back from my injury I wasn't sure what to expect really and finishing sixth overall was an accomplishment for me,” said Chisholm. “Compared to a regular supercross race, this event was different because there were three Main Events, the track was rougher and the Main Events were longer. The $1 million is a pretty awesome incentive for us to race at the Monster Energy Cup.”
In a career-best 10th place overall in the 2010 Monster Energy Supercross Championship, Chisholm has five top-10 finishes and his best finish of the season was a fifth at Salt Lake City.“My overall impression of the first Monster Energy Cup race was very good,” said Chisholm. “I really liked the race and the format, and I'm excited and ready to race it again in 2012 on my Jeff Ward Racing Kawasaki!”
The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by five-time Supercross Class Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. More than 200’ of the track will be built into the grandstands, and the riders exit the stadium and race through the Monster Energy Fan Zone outside of the stadium and through the pit area before they catapult back into the stadium. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and any rider that wins all three Main Events will take home $1 million.
