Brayton to Race Monster Energy Cup
AURORA, Ill. – Feld Motor Sports® announced today that Justin Brayton, Fort Dodge, Iowa, will race in the Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on October 20.
During the inaugural Monster Energy Cup, Brayton was 12th overall, finishing 13-5-18. Last year marked Brayton’s first ride aboard the Team Honda Muscle Milk motorcycle.
“There are not many things you can do in this world knowing you have an opportunity to win $1 Million in one night,” said Brayton. “That really makes everybody push a little harder and take a few extra chances, which makes for great racing.”
With two races left in the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season, Brayton is in third place, just three points out of second. Since turning pro in 2002, Brayton has earned seven podium finishes, 18 top-5 and 31 top-10 finishes in Supercross and Supercross Lites Class racing.
“It's very tricky to try and adapt to the unique Monster Energy Cup track,” said Brayton. “Riding wise and bike setup becomes very crucial. We go there not knowing if it's going to be more supercross or more motocross, so you try to be as prepared as you can and have an open mind to changing things throughout the day to make you more comfortable. “
The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by five-time Supercross Class Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. More than 200’ of the track will be built into the grandstands, and the riders exit the stadium and race through the Monster Energy Fan Zone outside of the stadium and through the pit area before they catapult back into the stadium. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and any rider that wins all three Main Events will take home $1 million.
