Weimer IN for Monster Energy Cup
AURORA, Ill. – Feld Motor Sports® announced today that Jake Weimer, of Rupert, Idaho, will race in the inaugural Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium October 20.
Last year at the Monster Energy Cup, Weimer finished ninth overall, with a best finish of sixth place in the second Main Event.
“Last year I didn’t have the best night at the Monster Energy Cup, but the event as a whole was cool,” said Weimer. “It’s a new idea and having something that combines both racing disciplines is fun and different. Adding on the extra incentive of a million bucks assures guys are going to go for it and makes for great racing.”
Weimer is enjoying the greatest Supercross Class season of his career. At last weekend’s race in Seattle, Weimer scored his fourth podium of the season with a third-place finish and sits fifth in the point standings.

The 2010 Western Regional Supercross Lites Class Champion has nine career Supercross Lites class wins, including the 2010 Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shootout at Sam Boyd Stadium. Following Weimer’s 2010 Supercross Lites Class campaign, Weimer made the transition to the Supercross Class heading into 2011. Prior to the start of the season, Weimer broke his arm in a practice crash and missed most of the year. Upon his return he finished seventh at Salt Lake and sixth at Las Vegas.
The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by five-time Supercross Class Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. More than 200’ of the track will be built into the grandstands, and the riders exit the stadium and race through the Monster Energy Fan Zone outside of the stadium and through the pit area before they catapult back into the stadium. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and any rider that wins all three Main Events will take home $1 million.
