Monster Energy Supercross Notes Package

Supercross Class Stats: Salt Lake City

The first race was held on April 28, 2001, and Ricky Carmichael won on a Kawasaki

This is the eighth time the gate will drop for a Monster Energy Supercross race in Salt Lake City

From 2001-2004, Salt Lake City hosted a Monster Energy Supercross race. The championship returned to Salt Lake City in 2009.

L&MC Honda’s Andrew Short earned the first Supercross Class win of his career and became the 55th different rider to win a Main Event; it was his third top-five finish of the season

Short is the first, first-time winner since Trey Canard won in Houston last February

Short is the 26th different Honda rider to win a Supercross Class race and the 16th different Honda rider to earn his first win on a Honda

Short is now the fifth different winner this season; he joins Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, and Chad Reed

It was Honda’s 201st Supercross Class victory

Red Bull KTM and current Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class racer Ken Roczen earned the first Supercross Class podium of his career with a second-place finish

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer continued his breakout season with a third place; he now has four podiums on the season and sits in fifth in the point standings

Factory Honda’s Justin Brayton earned his ninth top-five finish of the season with a fourth place

JGRMX/ Toyota/Yamaha’s Davi Millsaps earned his eighth straight top-six finish with a fifth place

Villopoto, who has already clinched the 2012 Supercross Class Championship injured his knee and will miss the remaining two races on the schedule. He finished a season-worst 19th place, breaking his 19-race top-five finish streak.

For the first time in 2012, the top five positions were held down by riders that have not won a Supercross Class Championship; 2010 Supercross Class Champion Ryan Dungey finished sixth in his first return to racing since suffering a shoulder injury
