Los Angeles, California – Building on the insanity of part 1 of their 2012 schedule and all-new livery announcement—which featured Hollywood actor and comedian Nick Swardson as Ken Block during a hilarious Q&A spoof—Block and the Monster World Rally Team proudly present part 2, which consists of a video that’s been affectionately dubbed “car porn,” as well as one shot pulled from an amazing photo shoot that features both Block’s Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle Ford Fiesta in Gymkhana FIVE trim and his dedicated Gymkhana World Tour Fiesta together.
“We made this second video for all of the fans who really enjoy seeing the up-close bits of racecars,” said Block. “All of the ‘naughty stuff’ and details you normally wouldn’t get access to as a fan are highlighted in this video, so as a team we started to refer to it as ‘car porn’ and the name sort of stuck. My old friend and fellow DC athlete, skateboarder Steve Berra, came out and did this one for us and he’s brilliant behind the camera and has an amazing eye for this style of clip. We talked about how we wanted it to be ‘car porn’ and he took that and ran with it. The results speak for themselves, the video looks awesome and really gives the viewer an inside view of the car, they would otherwise never get to see.”
In addition to releasing the second video in the two-part release of their 2012 schedule and all-new livery today, Block and the MWRT brought in top-automotive photographer Tony Harmer to produce a high-end studio shoot of both the H.F.H.V. and the Gymkhana World Tour Ford Fiesta together. Today, Block and MWRT are releasing one shot from the shoot, which features the H.F.H.V. ready for Gymkhana FIVE duty, as well as the Gymkhana World Tour Fiesta showcasing a very unique feature: glow-in-the-dark elements that hint at what Block has up his sleeve for his Gymkhana World Tour later this year. The remainder of the shoot will later be available exclusively at DCShoes.com.
“Tony has shot a lot for us in the past,” said Block. “He’s the one who shot for us when I first announced my partnership with Ford and we were unveiling the drip livery on my 2010 Fiesta. This time though, he’s really took it to the next level, these shots are absolutely amazing. In fact, I’d say that hands-down these are the hottest shots of a racecar in motorsports right now. I’m unbelievably stoked with how well they turned out.”
Additional shots from the shoot of both Block’s H.F.H.V. and Gymkhana World Tour Fiestas will be available in the coming weeks exclusively on the DC Shoes website.
With his launch complete, Block officially kicks off the 2012 season this week, as he enters his first event of the year, Rally America’s Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in Salem, Missouri, starting on Friday, February 24th.
