On-Track Off-Road Headline: "Tony Cairoli: World's Fastest Motocrosser Speaks"
The release of the latest Off-Track On-Road online magazine from Europe is bound to ruffle some feathers. On the eve of the 2011 FIM Motocross of Nations, the headline says boldly, "Tony Cairoli: The world's fastest motocrosser speaks." Cairoli, the reigning five-time MX1 world champ, is certainly one of the fastest men on the planet, but the world's fastest? Team USA's Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey may have something to say about this over the weekend, when the race is held in St. Jean D'Angeley, France. Dungey has won the MX1 overall the last two years while leading Team USA to victory. Before that Ryan Villopoto spear-headed Team USA's winning performances as an MX2 rider, including an outright sweep of both motos back in 2007 when the race was held in the U.S.
Not that they need any extra boost or inspiration for the weekend, when Team USA is going for a seventh win in a row, but this story may just end up on the walls of someone's pit area this weekend....
