X Games 17: Twitch Wins Moto X Best Whip

The fans have spoken and they have awarded gold in Moto X Best Whip to Winchester, California’s Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg with 27 percent of the text-in votes.

An excited Stenberg said that he hopes this is just the beginning of a gold-filled weekend.

“I am stoked to get this gold out of the way,” Stenberg said. “I’m looking forward to two more X Games medals this week.”

Three-time-defending gold medalist Todd Potter was awarded the silver with 24 percent of the votes and Australia’s Jarryd McNeil took bronze with 22 percent.

In Moto X Best Whip, riders showcase their ability to throw a 350-pound machine sideways and bring it back with style in a 10-minute jam format.  This discipline is 100 percent fan judged, and their best attempt is voted in via test message.

In its ninth year in Los Angeles, X Games 17 will feature more than 200 athletes at competition venues and event spaces including STAPLES Center and Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. The 17th annual action sports competition to be held in Los Angeles July 28 – 31 and will debut the new discipline of Enduro X, as well as the first-ever rally street circuit running through the downtown area.ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC will combine to telecast 25 hours of live X Games 17 competition. In addition to the 25  original hours in high definition, the Worldwide Leader in Action Sports will also televise 18 hours of X Games action on ESPN 3D.
