TLD Race Report: Washougal
July 26, 2011, 7:55pm
Washougal is one of the most anticipated races on the calendar. The scenery and local weather make for the perfect setting for a motocross race. The Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Honda team was without one member last weekend, as Christian Craig is still on the mend from a crash he had last weekend. Still no word on when he will be returning to action.
Travis Baker scored the teams best finish this weekend with a 16th overall. Moto one was actually a great start for Travis as he came around lap one in seventh place. He worked his way forward, determined not to squander the good start, and sat in fourth place for a portion of the moto. He slipped to sixth as the moto wound down and with just a few laps left he lost the front end in a slick turn and went down. He would remount and finish the moto in 18th. Cole Seely crashed in the second turn and worked his way all the way up past his teammate to finish 17th.
The second moto Baker started in thirteenth and spent the entire moto battling hard with a competitive group of riders. He finished thirteenth ahead of some great riders including Musquin, Tickle and Wil Hahn. Seely was working hard and making progress of his own until some debris got sucked into his rear wheel and derailed his chain and his chances at improving his first moto score. Cole would have to settle for 39th that moto and 21st overall.
The team sported a wild look for the weekend as they debuted some of the new SE Pro gear for 2012. The same gear and helmets that Cole and Travis used this weekend will be available for purchase soon at your local dealer. Visit www.troyleedesigns.com to see all the new designs and colors.
