  • TLD/Lucas Oil/Honda Hits the Podium in Texas Heat
In what has become known as the hottest weekend of the year on the national motocross series, the Troy Lee Designs team stayed cool and hit the podium for the first time this summer. Tarah Geiger used consistency to finish second overall in WMX competition. Tarah followed fellow Honda rider Ashley Fiolek across the line making it a one-two sweep for the red riders. Geiger moved to third in the point standings with the weekends podium finish.

Christian Craig had his most impressive ride to date in Freestone. After pulling a huge holeshot on his Pro Circuit-powered Honda, Christian showed the talent and potential that got him a spot on the TLD team by leading nearly half the moto! He finally gave way to Reed, Dungey and a couple others and scored a fifth in the moto. The second moto he got another good start and rode steady and consistently to finish eighth in the moto and seventh overall.

“It was a good step forward,” said Craig. “I got a good start last weekend but I tightened up and went back fast. This week I held onto the lead for almost half the race. I feel like I’m making good progress and I feel really good on the bike. I’m looking forward to the next round to see if I can keep improving.”

Cole Seely got good starts all weekend but a pair of crashes in the first moto would hamper his overall. A fourteenth in moto one along with a solid eighth in the second moto would put the young rider in eighth overall at the end of the day. Seely now sits in ninth in the standings. His teammate, Travis Baker, had a difficult day. Travis had been battling a cold all week and a concussion from last weekend in Sacramento but he was determined to race. Baker was holding ninth position late in the first moto when an electrical issue with the bike would significantly slow his pace. He was credited with 33rd in the first moto. Moto two was a struggle for Travis but despite being sick all week he earned points with a fifteenth place. Better days are coming for fluffy-haired Travis Baker.

The team gets a weekend off now before the series heads back east to Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania for the High Point National. Be sure to stop by and say hello to the team at an upcoming national near you.
