Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Riders Chase Championship Dreams

CORONA, Calif. - Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki riders have all proven their stripes indoors and now take their talents to the AMA Motocross Championship starting this weekend at Hangtown MX outside of Sacramento, Calif. Dean Wilson, Tyla Rattray, Broc Tickle and Blake Baggett are chasing their dream of becoming a champion and it begins with the first of 12 rounds.

Ending his season last year with a win at Pala, Wilson is ready to keep the win streak rolling into the new year. Along with grabbing the win at Pala, Wilson also had a win at Budds Creek MX, two second-place finishes, and three third-place results on his way to finishing fourth in the points standings in his rookie year.

“I’ve been looking forward to bouncing back after a rough supercross season,” said Wilson. “I knew I have speed, but we’ll see what happens. I think I have the most fun riding motocross and I know that can help me stay loose during the long motos.”

Finishing an impressive second in the standings last year, Rattray proved to his competitors why he was a world motocross champion. With wins at High Point Raceway and MX-338 and six additional trips to the podium, the South African only finished outside the top-five twice. This year, Rattray looks to add an American motocross championship to his resume.

“Motocross is my favorite type of racing and I’ve been waiting for this season to start all year,” said Rattray. “A big goal for me was to stay healthy during supercross because I know I have a good chance at the championship this year. I was close last year and I will be pushing really hard to stay consistent.”

Coming off the AMA Supercross Lites, Western Region championship, Tickle looks to keep the momentum going into the outdoors. Last motocross season he finished seventh in the series, even after taking two rounds off. Tickle earned a season-best of fourth at Freestone and looks to make his move for the podium this season on his Pro-Circuit backed Kawasaki KX™250F.

“This season, I want to redeem myself from last year,” said Tickle. “I had some good motos, but I don’t think it showed in the overall season. I know that the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is behind me 100 percent and that gives me the confidence to run up front. I have been training hard and hope that it pays off.”

After missing most of the AMA Motocross Championship in 2010, Baggett is hungry to put his name on the map as a motocross rider. In his short time racing last season, Baggett was able to rack up a fourth overall at High Point Raceway.

“I’ve been eager to get back racing motocross,” said Baggett. “I feel like this will almost be my rookie season for motocross. I only raced in four total motos last year because I either had a crash or bike issue before ending my season at Budds Creek MX. After a pretty good supercross season, I am really looking forward to going back outdoors and seeing where I stack up against everyone.”

The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team starts the motocross season with the opener at Hangtown MX. The opener will be the first of twelve rounds that will take the team across the country until the beginning of September.
