  • Extremity Games Motocross Returns
Rochester Hills, MI – Returning to Baja Acres Motocross Park for 2011, the 6th annual Extremity Games will take place during Memorial Day weekend, on May 28th in Millington, Michigan.  Backed by a group of loyal sponsors and supporters, Extremity Games will host motocross athletes from all over the world, who have not only overcome the challenges of living with limb loss or difference, but have also found unique ways to adapt to a sport that is already extremely challenging in its own right.

Organized by Athletes with Disabilities Network, Extremity Games 6 (eX6) represents a growing effort to provide exciting venues for athletes competing with limb loss (i.e. amputee, etc.) or limb difference (i.e. paraplegic, quadriplegic, etc.), as well as to celebrate and advocate the thrill of extreme sports.  Aside from the motocross event in Michigan, Extremity Games will host another venue in San Antonio, Texas on June 24-25 for athletes competing in skateboarding, rock climbing, wakeboarding, sit-boarding, kayaking and mountain biking events.

“We’re extremely excited about our 6th year hosting Extremity Games”, said Athletes with Disabilities Network Executive Director, Beth Taylor.  “The event has been growing in strides since its beginning, and we couldn’t be happier about the level of awareness and recognition that has been generated for athletes with disabilities.”

Beth continued by saying that more and more motocross racers reach out to Extremity Games each year, adding further competition and excitement to an already talented group of racers and past champions.  One racer in particular has been looking forward to the new additions and says that in spite of the increased competition, he’s happy to see the growing participation.

“The upcoming Extremity Games is sort of like watching the 2011 AMA Monster Energy Supercross series…” says Jim Wazny, Extremity Games Motocross Director.  “There are so many fast and talented guys who can win, you can’t help but immerse yourself in the excitement of what might happen.”

Along with a handful of new racers coming to the event for the first time, Jim will be joined by past medalists Chris Ridgway, “Monster” Mike Schultz, Todd Thompson, and Beau Meier in the Limb-Loss class.  Other motocross favorites like Sampie Erasmus, Shane Shipley, and Nick Pappas will be racing an equally difficult pool of talent in the Limb-Difference division.
