Cole Seely Gets Win Number 2 in Seattle
April 18, 2011, 11:40am
In a dominating performance, Cole Seely scored his second win for the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda team this weekend in Seattle. Much like his first win in Los Angeles, Cole pulled the holeshot and simply took off.
The heat race was a good indicator of how the main would go as Seely and Broc Tickle battled back and forth for the entire heat. Seely would sneak in a pass and hold on for the win. The second TLD team rider, Travis Baker, was struggling with the track but qualified in fifth position in the heat race.
The main event went exactly how Seely planned. He pulled a big holeshot on his Pro Circuit-tuned Honda and never looked back. At one point during the race Seely made a big mistake but luckily he was able to stay on two wheels. He lost a little ground but still had a comfortable cushion on the rest of the field. He would finish out his laps and add win number two to his resume.
Travis Baker couldn't get things going. He started up front but couldn't find his rhythm and dropped back to ninth by the end of the race.
"This was a really tough track tonight," said Seely after the race. "It feels great to get another win. I really think that riding the 450 during the west break helped keep me loose and in race mode. The other guys had such a long time between races and I know that it can be tough to jump right back into racing. I just really want to thank the Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Honda team. They have believed in me for the past couple years and I love riding over here."
The crew now has one more week off before they compete in Salt Lake City and then Las Vegas where the champions will be crowned. Can Seely get another win before it's all over in Vegas? Don't bet against it.
