AJ Catanzaro & MXTrader.net Are Moving On Up The Eastside
It was a rough evening for a few top supercross racers at Jacksonville Saturday to say the least, but for MXTrader.net backed rider, AJ Catanzaro, it was another personal best.
After missing the main by one position in the second heat race, Catanzaro’s chances of making the main in the LCQ were looking bleak to the average supercross fan considering both Blake Baggett and Jason Anderson in the mix along with 17 other talented riders battling for the two transfer positions. However, Catanzaro escaped a first turn crash that put both Baggett and Anderson to the ground and he found himself in the mix for a transfer spot with Killy Rusk and Sean Lipanovich. Catanzaro got by Lipanovich just in time to grab the win.
In the main, Catanzaro rode solid for 15 laps aboard his MXTrader.net Honda CRF250. He ran in the top 10 for most of the moto and finished with a career high 12th place. It was a confidence booster for the young rider and he will take that with him to Toronto this weekend.
“I felt super comfortable on the track and on the bike,” said Catanzaro.
Whether a veteran or rookie, nerves are an obstacle for every rider and everyone has their own method to deal with nerves. Catanzaro follows the advice of Rudy Schellenberger, the owner of MXTrader.net on how to deal with his butterflies during timed qualifiers.
“Rudy always tells me to just go out there and do whips. And that’s what I did. It just makes me comfortable on the bike and not be nervous.”
