  • THEDIRTLAB.COM/MOTOVITE Honda Race Recap
A packed house welcomed round 10 of the 2011 AMA Supercross Series to Indianapolis, and hordes of fans were treated to an amazing display of athleticism and aerial acrobatics. THEDIRTLAB.COM/MOTOVITE HONDA rider Ryan Clark was primed and ready to do battle in the ultra-competitive "Supercross" Class aboard his Travis Hurley-tuned 2011 Honda CRF450R.

Ryan was quick in his first timed-qualifier, and was looking good in the second and final session until he augured head first into the sand section.  Fortunately, Ryan escaped with only minor injuries and would move on to the night show having qualified with relative ease.

In his heat race, Ryan rounded the first turn near the back of the pack.  He mounted a first lap charge that brought him up to 14th, but was unable to get around the pack of riders ahead of him and settled into their pace.  He would cross the finish line 14th, thus relegating him to an LCQ competitor.

In the dreaded "Last Chance Qualifier" the start is important.  How important, you ask?  Important like taking your Motovite vitamins every day.  Important like looking both ways before you cross the road.  Important like yearly breast and/or testicular exams.  You get the point.  Despite the urgency of the situation, Ryan did not subscribe to the aforementioned warnings and gated poorly.  He moved forward swiftly, but a crash by two competitors coupled with a poor line choice saw him get held up and lose five positions on lap two.  By the end of the six lap event Ryan had rallied to sixth place, but that would not be enough to transfer to the point-paying main event.  "I was pleased with my LCQ ride, but I have some work to do on my starts.  I will be working with Justin Buckelew this week in hopes of giving myself a better chance to succeed come Jacksonville".

As he mentioned, THEDIRTLAB.COM/MOTOVITE HONDA will be moving on to (hopefully) sunny Jacksonville, Florida next week to compete on the world stage of Supercross yet again.  Until then you can catch Ryan at work in his motorcycle retail store (THEDIRTLAB) or practicing at THEDIRTLAB.COM proving grounds located at Speedworld MX Park just west of Phoenix, AZ.
