Mr. Consistent Uses His Head As The Scorpion-Sponsored Racer Moves Up In The Standings At The Half-Way Point

Lake Forest, CA — The battle for the 2011 Arenacross Lites Eastern championship really heated up in Louisville, Kentucky. Unbeaten in the first couple of rounds, Adam Gulley was a no-show in the Bluegrass State. This gave Patrick Massie the opportunity to move into first place, while “Mr. Consistent” Steven Mages raced into second place for the second straight weekend.

The Gateway Cycles/Trentman Racing/Scorpion-sponsored Steven Mages has definitely had the hot hand going into the season’s half-way point, having previously finished third two weekends in a row before his back-to-back runner-up spots. His confidence continues to grow as well, “I was a little too excited the first time I made the podium and I forgot to wear my Scorpion hat when they presented the trophies,” Mages admits. But now, sitting solidly in third place overall with a continuing streak of top finishes, he says he is learning his way around the podium.

“We are pretty pumped to have Steven doing so well in the series,” says Scorpion marketing maven, Suzie Kirby. “Pretty pumped” is also a fairly accurate description of Scorpion’s VX-24 helmet technology. Racers can pump up the proprietary cheek pad inflation system to ensure the perfect fit with Scorpion’s trademarked AIRFIT® technology. Augmenting the
internal pump system, the VX-24 also provides top-flight protection with its polycarbonate shell combined with a state-of-the-art dual density EPS liner. This combination of technologies makes it possible for the VX-24 to meet or exceed all Snell/DOT safety standards.

Speaking of superior Scorpion technology, the KwikWick® washable moisture wicking comfort liner helps Mages keep his consistency going, no matter how hot the action gets in the second half of the AX season. “It is great to see Steven sporting the VX-24 on the track and rocking the Scorpion hat on the podium! We can’t wait for the second half of the season to get started … and seeing the #733 Kawasaki finish out front again,” says Suzie.
