Advance, NC - TiLUBE Racing's team improved their results in Oakland, California when Matt Boni finished inside the top 15 in the main event of the Monster Energy Supercross Series. The conditions were wet in Oakland and the track was rutty but that didn't stop the TiLUBE Racing team from posting their best results this season.
The practice session started a little rough for Boni with a nasty crash in the whoop section. The whoop section of the track was giving a number of riders trouble and the series management ended up changing them. Boni qualified in 17th place with a best lap time was 48.398 seconds putting him in 17th position. Rivas posted a best lap time of 49.826 seconds putting him in 27th place.
Both riders raced in the second 450 heat race, Boni finished just inside the nine transfer positions with his 8th place finish. Rivas was not in a transfer spot with his 13th place finish.
Rivas advanced to the LCQ for his final shot of the evening to make the main event. His 5th place finish would not qualify him to race in the main event.
Boni had a poor start in the main event race, but he quickly worked his way through the pack of riders and into the 12th position.
"I am pleased with my results this past weekend. Even though they do not reflect where I think I should be, we made the main and picked up some valuable series points. After a not so great start I put my head down and rode a smooth race without mistakes which is what I needed to do. I am really excited going into Anaheim II," commented team rider Matt Boni.
After four rounds of the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross Series Matt Boni is in 18th place overall in the standings.
