TiLUBE Racing LA Report
January 25, 2011, 7:05pm
Advance, NC - TiLUBE Racing's team fought small mistakes and an electrical issue at round three of The Monster Energy Supercross Series - Los Angeles.
Boni's bike failed a random sound test after the qualifying session and his best time was dropped. Boni's second best lap time was 55.778 seconds putting him in 27th position. Rivas was a little slower posting a best lap time of 56.503 seconds putting him in 32st place.
In the first 450 heat race, TiLUBE Racing's Manuel Rivas got a bad start and finished the race in 20th place.
In the second heat, Matt Boni also had a rough start and was running near the back of the pack. He rode a great race and made his way up to ninth position where he was battling for the transfer spot. Unfortunately he stalled the bike in a corner, eliminating his chance to transfer directly to the main and sening him to the LCQ.
In the LCQ both riders struggled with the start again. Boni quickly picked off riders and was getting close to the front when he and another rider came into a corner at the same time. Boni got pushed wide and off the track, a tuff block kept him from getting back on the track immediately. He finished the race in fourth place, two spots out of the transfer postion. Rivas had electrical problems with his bike and was not able to finish the race, he finished in 19th position.
"Tough break this week in Dodger Stadium for the TiLUBE team. The sound test problem and electrical problem on the other bike did not make for a great weekend for the team. Boni rode well and should have made the main. He will be ready for the next race, he has the speed to be in the top ten and we are confident he will be there. We are working with Rivas to see what changes we can make to help him pick up the pace," commented team manager Tony Wenck.
After three rounds of the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross Series it is Matt Boni in 25rd place overall in the standings.
The TiLUBE Racing team's next event is Saturday, January 29th, at Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California.
