A note from Kirk Layfield about the 2011 World Police & Fire Games - New York City

Every two years as many as 20,000 full time firefighters and law enforcement personnel from 70 different countries gather together to represent their Countries and Departments in 69 different events from Angling to Wrestling. The 2011 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG) is currently the second largest multi-sport event in the world, surpassed only by the Summer Olympics. The New York City Police and Fire Departments are inviting us to experience their City and participate in the most memorable World Police & Fire Games ever. Held in New York City from August 26th through September 5th, these games will respectfully coincide with the ten year remembrance of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

My Name is Kirk Layfield, Firefighter/Paramedic in Orlando, Florida. I have over 35 years of motocross competition experience; 20 of those at the professional level with 3 amateur national championships and several state titles. In addition, I’m a columnist for Florida Motocross and Florida Trail Riders magazines as well as Racer X Virtual Trainer. As a Team USA Motocross Rider I need your help to make it to this legendary event and bring home the title!

Help support America’s team!

Team USA’s goal is to have multiple motocross riders entered in every class competing to win every medal that is up for grabs in the 2011 WPFG.

We don’t want one medal to leave American soil.

In order to get our best riders and motorcycles from all over the country to Long Island, NY we are going to need financial assistance from sponsors. In addition, funds will also help with training and competing in several national level events to ensure I am ready to take on the world August 31st 2011.

The WPFG opening ceremonies will be held in Central Park with thousands of athletes and spectators in attendance and tremendous media coverage. To ensure that your sponsorship is mutually beneficial, I will work diligently before, during and after these games to get recognition for your business through all forms of media.

I am confident in my ability to perform well in my class at the games given the opportunity to train properly and the financial means to do so. It will be an honor to win my class and let everyone know who helped me reach this goal.
