Team Eleven 10 Mods/Renegade Fuels Race Report
This year marks the 39th Annual Thor Winter National Olympics, presented by Pro Circuit, at Gatorback Cycle Park. Three days of supercross and three days of motocross with the best amateur motocross racers in the world gathering at Gatorback Cycle Park in Gainesville, Florida to battle it out to be the Olympiad Champion. Special awards, like the Pro Circuit Platinum Pipe, Scott Golden Goggle, Dunlop Silver Tire, Fox Bronze Boot, and the CTI Iron Man award are won by racers that have the best finishes in both motocross and supercross for the entire event. This is an event you do not want to miss next year.
Team Eleven 10 Mods/Renegade Fuels kicked off the first event of their new Amateur team managed by Chad Sanner and Mark Ticen. They showcased 2 riders at this event, Jesse Wentland and Daniel Baker riding out of the new Team Rig.
Wentland came in to the event feeling and looking strong. Wentland would finish as follows on his Eleven 10 Mods/Renegade Fuels YZ250F, 250 B Stock SX 3rd, 250B Mod SX 4th,Open B Mod SX 1st, Schoolboy 14-16 SX 3rd, 250 B Stock MX 6th, 250 B Mod MX 6th, Open B Stock MX 3rd, and Open B Mod MX 10th. Daniel Baker would look to put his Eleven 10 Mods/Renegade Fuels Honda 150 to the front all week in the Supermini 1 and 2 classes. Baker would pull several holeshots and run up front all week. Baker, not having a SX track to train on, would show that he is here to stay and the top riders should expect to see more of him the rest of the 2011 season. Baker would finish a respectable 4th in the supermini 1 class on the supercross track and a 3rd on the supercross track in the supermini 2 class. Baker was looking forward to getting back to the MX track. He would find himself in the first division of the supermini 1 class with heavy hitters such as, Dakota Alix, Jordan Smith, Cody McCulloch, John Ames, and Keith Tucker. Baker would have a good start and run in second place behind Dakota Alix. On the first lap Baker would pass Alix and make it stick. Baker would continue to pull slightly over Alix each lap by turning consistent laps in the 1.58 range. Baker would win his first moto on the mx track. In the second moto Baker would again get a great start but would struggle to run the same consistent lap times as the first moto and would finish 3rd overall. The Supermini 2 class would start off with Baker pulling the holeshot over Cooper Webb. Baker would lead Webb for 2 laps before Webb was able to get around him. Baker would keep Webb in check the rest of the moto but would have to settle for 2nd. In the second moto Baker would find himself running a close third behind Alix and Webb. On the white flag lap Baker would air out the finish line jump at Gatorback only to explode his rear wheel causing the wheel to collapse and lock up. Baker would somehow save it but would be forced to watch the last lap from the sidelines. Baker would DNF the last moto.
Mark Ticen of Renegade Fuels stated " I was talking to Big D’s trainer, Travis Preston of Preston MX Schools, and once Daniel starts to race the track and not worry about what rider is in front or behind him, he will be hard to beat." Team Eleven 10 Mods/ Renegade Fuels will look forward to the 2011 Amateur and Pro racing season.
