  • Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear Announces 2011 SX Lites Team

HOUSTON – Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear powered by Munn Racing KTM will field the largest KTM-supported program in the 2011 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. The team will compete in both the West Region and East Region Lites rounds with six athletes beginning at the series opener in Anaheim on January 8 and concluding at the final round in Las Vegas on May 7.

The West Region Lites roster is Austin Howell of Red Bluff, Calif., Casey Hinson of Clovis, Calif. and Jason Langford, Jr. of Palestine, Texas. Howell, riding the number 61 KTM 250 SX-F and Hinson on the number 149 KTM are new to the team while Langford competing on a number 804 KTM returns for the second year. Last season, he competed in the 450 Supercross class as a rookie. Howell finished 32nd in the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA 250 Motocross Championship as a full-on privateer.

The East Region Lites roster is Tevin Tapia of Boney Lake, Wash., Ricky Renner of Lakeland, Fla. and Vernon McKiddie of Huffman, Texas. Tapia, riding the number 70 KTM 250 SX-F and Renner on the number 94 KTM are new to the team, while McKiddie competing on the number 129 KTM returns for his second year. Tapia finished 25th in the final 2010 AMA Supercross Lites East Region point standings and 30th in the 2010 AMA 250 Motocross Championship competing as a full-on privateer.

Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear expects all six riders to make the night program in their respective regional AMA Supercross races and compete in main events. This is the largest team Shea Racing has ever fielded in its three seasons, and the only time it’s had all riders on the same equipment thanks to Munn Racing and KTM.

"We are excited to have the resources to support six talented Lites riders who can compete in the main events," said Tim Shea, team manager. "This is possible due to our primary sponsors Violation Goggles, National Switchgear and Travisa, and certainly the factory support of KTM through Munn Racing. We are honored to be the largest KTM supported team and expect to fulfill the "Ready to Race" moniker by competing for main event finishes in AMA Supercross Lites."

Shea continues, "Howell, Hinson and Langford on the West and Tapia, Renner and McKiddie on the East are talented riders who needed a program that will take them to the next level. We have put that program together. We are only a month away from the AMA Supercross opener and our guys are out on the practice tracks with their DR.D and Enzo Suspension-equipped KTM 250SX-F bikes getting ready. We expect our six Lites riders to thrive with our team!"

Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/Travisa/National Switchgear powered by Munn Racing KTM will make its debut at the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series opener on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in Anaheim, California. Make sure to be there to see the West Region Lites team riders running in the night program on their orange KTM 250SX-F race bikes, and stop by the team pits to meet the Violation Goggle girls. Keep posted to the team at www.sheamoto.com.
