  • Jimmy Button To Ride Across America For Spinal Cord Research

Los Angeles, CA.- A former Factory Yamaha racer, Jimmy Button hopes to raise 1 million dollars for spinal cord research by riding a bike across America this coming February.

Button, who was severely injured on January 22, 2000, was paralyzed from the neck down for several months. Since then, he has been able to regain most of the use of his arms and legs. His injury has left him categorized as an incomplete quadriplegic.

Jimmy Button has been a fixture in the motocross industry for nearly three decades. In the 80’s he was a child prodigy mini racer. In the 90’s Jimmy was a star factory rider. And for the past decade after his injury, his time has been spent doing rider management.

Jimmy’s ride will start out of San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium on February 20, 2011 and will finish 2428 miles down the road in Daytona Beach, Florida. Button and his foundation The Road 2 Recovery’s Miles for Miracles, has signed on with Sette Bicycles to be the official bike supplier for the team to cross the United States on.

"I am so excited to be with Sette Bikes and their entire team, They are providing bikes for my whole crew to do the ride", said Button. "The support they have given me for this cause has been unwavering. Hands down the Forza bikes that they are supplying us with are the best I have ever ridden"

Sette’s Marketing Manager, Erick "Big E" Bartoldus said "Jimmy’s resolve to give back to an athlete community that has been struck by spinal cord injuries is unparalleled. We at Sette want to help Jimmy and his quest to get riders out of the chair and back on a bike someday."
